Feathertop Overview
Pennisetum villosum is a deciduous grass species in the grass family, Poaceae. It is perennial but frequently grown as an annual species due to its half-hardy nature, it produces narrow, straight foliage. Flowers are cylindrical and feathery in appearance, coloured green-white and developing to a more purple colouring with age. It has a tufted habit and is hardy to -5 degrees Celsius, plant in a position of full sun, in well-draining soil for optimal growth. This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
