Banana 'Dwarf Cavendish' Overview

Musa acuminata 'Dwarf Cavendish' is an evergreen perennial cultivar from the Musaceae family. Also known by the name Blood Banana. It can grow to 3m in height, producing showy foliage up to 1.2m in length. Leaves are oblong in shape and coloured a lovely green shade. Flowers are produced in drooping spies, they are yellow in colour, surrounded by showy modified leaves, termed bracts, these are coloured purple. Flowering can occur at any time of year when grown in a mild, frost-free environment. The flowers lead onto edible yellow fruits, which are known as Bananas!
