Juniper Overview

Juniperus communis is an evergreen shrub with a variable growth habit, may be low and spreading, columnar or bushy in overall appearance. Foliage is aromatic and reduced to needle-like, grey-green leaves. Commonly known by the names Juniper, Common Juniper and Dwarf Juniper, amongst others. This species is dioecious, thus individual plants either have male flowers or female flowers and both male and female specimens are required for this species to reproduce naturally. Flowers lead onto egg-shaped fruits which develop from green to black with time.
