Virginia Sweetspire Overview

Itea virginica, also known as Virginia sweetspire, is an evergreen shrub that typically grows to a maximum height of around 2.5m and a maximum width of around 1.5m. Foliage is shiny and oval in shape. Flowers are green-white, scented and arranged densely in hanging catkin-like structures. This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Award of Garden Merit and it displays attractive bright red autumn colouration.
