Blu Flag Iris Overview
Iris versicolor is a bulbous perennial from the Iridaceae family. It produces narrow, grass-like leaves and erect stems with large violet-blue flowers, growing from underground rhizomes. It typically reaches a height of around 0.8-1m. Forming branched stems bearing vibrant blue-purple flowers measuring between 6-8cm across. They have attractive venation, tending towards white inside the flower, these appear in summer and this plant has a clumping habit. Fully hardy, this plant grows well in full sun nd moist, poorly-draining soil.
