Winged Spindle Overview

Euonymus alatus - known by several other names, including Winged Spindle and Burning Bush - is a large, deciduous shrub whose branches often develop conspicuous angled 'wings' at the end of its branches. The oval leaves of Euonymus alatus turn a bright crimson colour in autumn, its spreading branches making a stunning display. Purple-red fruits - with orange seeds inside - follow small green flowers. Often planted as a specimen plant, or to brighten up a shady corner, Euonymus alatus can also be planted in a sunny situation and it likes well-drained soil. It is low maintenance.
