Maiden Pink Overview
Dianthus deltoides is an evergreen perennial with a mat-forming growth habit. It produces narrow, grey-green foliage and showy, scented flowers with 5 wide petals in the summer. The petals have distinctive toothed margins, creating a frilly effect. Flower colours include shades of pink, red and white. Typically this species blooms at a height of around 20cm. Although it is perennial, they are more often grown as biennial plants as they are relatively short-lived. Grows best in neutral to slightly alkaline, well-draining soil in full sun. This is lovely planted in a rock garden or along the edge of a border.
