Cornflower 'Black Ball' Overview

Centaurea cyanus 'Black Ball' is an annual cultivar in the daisy family, Asteraceae (Asteraceae). It typically grows to around 75cm tall, producing simple to lobed leaves and attractive deep red flowers. Blooms are solitary and measure between 3-4cm in width, they appear from late spring to summer. It has an upright habit and is hard to -20 degrees Celsius, plant in a position of full sun, in moist, well-draining soil for optimal growth. This cultivar is part of the Royal Horticultural Society “Plants for Pollinators” initiative to showcase plants which support pollinator populations by providing ample amounts of nectar and/ or pollen. A great choice for encouraging pollinating insect wildlife into your garden!
