Himalayan Birch Overview
This deciduous tree is one of the more striking species of birch. It has distinctive bright white bark, which may be tinged with pink or brown. Growing multiple specimens together produces a very uniform shape. Both male and female flowers are produced on the same tree, these are yellow-brown and arranged in catkins. Plants are unlikely to self-pollinate as the male and female flowers are separated in time, opening at different times of the year. Dark green, ovate foliage contrasts with the vivid white trunk beautifully in the summer months. Leaves display attractive colour, turning a golden brown in the autumn.
