Nakedwood Overview

Genus with around 34 evergreen tree and shrub species with climbing growth habits, growing to between 1-10m tall. They produce terete branches which are sometimes reduced to spines and alternately arranged, glossy foliage which is oval-shaped. Flowers are interesting, petalless, coloured yellow to green and sparsely arranged in cymes. These consist of a central stem that produces a flower at its growing tip first, followed by flowers from the ends of subsequent lateral shoots. This genus is commonly known by the names nakedwood, snakewood, greenheart and hogplum.
