It is typically grown as an ornamental, it was bred from the species Dendrobium bracteosum and Dendrobium laevifolium. It produces showy, scented, waxy, purple-pink blooms. Foliage is bright green, leathery in texture and strap-shaped. Leaves are produced alternately on stems and this species makes an attractive and interesting houseplant.
