Poplus is a genus of 25–35 species of deciduous flowering plants, cultivated in gardens for their rapid growth as specimen trees. Fast-growing hybrid poplars are grown on plantations for pulpwood, they are also widely used for the manufacture of paper, more specialised uses include matches and the boxes in which Camembert cheese is sold. Because of its exceptional flexibility, Poplar wood is also widely used in the snowboard industry for the snowboard core.
