Dog's mercury is a carpet-forming green plant of dark, shady forests. It is a dioecious plant, meaning male and female flowers will grow on separate plants. Folk lore states that a tincture made from the male flowers will increase the possibility of having a male child, and a female child from a tincture of the female flowers.
