Foxglove Tree Overview
Paulownia tomentosa is a medium to large, deciduous tree from the Paulowniaceae family. It has a spreading habit and is known for its beautiful, scented foxglove-like flowers which bloom in spring before the leaves emerge. Commonly known by the names Foxglove Tree, Tulip Tree and Princess Tree, amongst others. Foxglove Trees are hardy and grow well in full sun. Take care with planting as this large tree needs a lot of space, it forms a deep taproot and is considered invasive in certain locations such as South Africa. This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit in the UK.

How to propagate Foxglove Tree
Seed
Sow seed in spring. Keep moist until roots have developed.
Cuttings
Dig a trench around a young tree. Follow a root until you find a piece 30cm long the same width as a pencil. Using sterile secateurs remove the piece from the mother plant and place in potting soil. It shall send up shoots soon.
