Bunny Ears Cactus Overview
Opuntia microdasys is a perennial cactus species from the Cactaceae family, with a bushy growth habit. It is commonly known by the name Bunny Ears Cactus. It produces segmented, rounded and flattened stems which are densely covered in white areoles with tiny white, yellow or red-brown bristly hair-like spines (called glochids). These can cause intense irritation to skin, making Bunny Ears Cactus a prickly one to grow as a houseplant. Bunny Ears Cactus form showy, bowl-shaped flowers, coloured yellow with a red tinge, they measure approximately 4-5 cm wide.
