Beetroot is used as natural colorant and known from Middle ages for the medicinal value accosiated with digestion and blood related illnesses. 'Early Wonder' is a quick growing variety with a semi-globular shape, more flattend at the top and bottom than other beet vareities. Great for mild climates where multiple crops are possible.
Common problems with Beetroot 'Early Wonder'
Root rot and mice and moles affect the root. Rotate crops to prevent Cercospora leaf spot. Rust, Aphids, Damping off, Darkling beetle (Rove beetle), Downy mildew, Leaf miner all feed on or destroy the leaves of the plant. A good insecticide or fungicide should be used at the first sight.

Ready to harvest within 48-55 days of sowing. For early cropping, wait until the bulb is at least 5 cm in diameter and the shoulders appear above soil level. Harvest every second bulb, allowing the rest to gain size.
How to propagate Beetroot 'Early Wonder'
Soak seeds for 8 to 24 hours before direct sowing. Sowing time best during spring and summer. Space rows in beds 10 - 15 cm apart, 20 - 25 mm deep, firm lightly and keep evenly moist.

Choose containers that are at least 20 cm in diameter and equally deep. Seeds should be thinly sown, 2 cm deep.
