Cryptocarya Overview

Genus containing around 368 species of evergreen tree from the laurel family, Lauraceae. They can grow to over 60m, producing grey-brown bark with a red-brown colouration when cut. Foliage is oblong to oval-shaped and coloured glossy green on the upper surface and pale blue-green on the lower surface. Green to cream flowers are inconspicuous and non-showy, leading onto red-purple fruits.
