Pallenis Overview

A small genus of around 6 species of flowering plants in the Inuleae (samphire) tribe of the sunflower family. They are native to the Mediterranean and Eastwards as far as Central Asia where they are found in desert and coastal habitats and on uncultivated or disturbed land and roadsides. They are hardy annual or biennial herbaceous plants with small oval leaves and daisy-like yellow flowers composed of numerous disc and ray florets. Some species, notably P. maritima, are cultivated in rock gardens or containers where they prefer full sun and a sandy soil.
