Castilleja Overview

Castilleja contains over 200 annual and perennial herbaceous species, mainly from the Americas and Asia. Growing naturally in rocky and prairie habitats which experience periodic burning, many species in this genus are under threat. They are well adapted to wildfire-prone areas and experience less competition following a burn. These plants often produce bright red flowers in clusters.
