Agaricus bisporus is a species of mushroom commonly known as a Button Mushroom or a Common Mushroom. It resides in the Agaricus genus, which contains over 300 species of both edible and poisonous fungi. It can be found across Europe and North America, growing in grassland habitats. The mushrooms may be white or brown in colour and they are sold commercially under the name Portobello Mushroom. It is one of the most common and widely consumed mushrooms worldwide, it is cultivated in over 70 countries.
