Petasites Overview
Petasites is a genus of 19 rhizomatous, perennial plants in the daisy family, Asteraceae. This genus is native to North America and Eurasia. They produce dense spikes of tufted pink or white, sometimes greenish, flower heads in early Spring, after which the large rhubarb-like, felted leaves develop. Commonly known as butterbur or coltsfoot, they are cultivated for medicinal purposes or as ornamental garden plants.
