Plumbago Overview

A genus of around 10 to 20 species of annual, perennial or evergreen flowering shrubs in the Plumbaginaceae (leadwort or plumbago) family. They are found in warm temperate and tropical regions worldwide. They have simple leaves and racemes of tubular or salver-shaped flowers in a variety of colours. Commonly cultivated species include P. auriculata that can be trained as wall shrubs but need a sheltered position and protection from frost. They are also grown as glasshouse specimens.
