Erythrophysa Overview

Genus with less than 10 species of shrub or small tree with pinnately divided foliage arranged in of 6-12 pairs of leaflets, the leaves are oval to linear in shape. Produces attractive, tubular, 4-petalled, red-pink flowers in branched panicle or corymb arrangements. This African genus is distributed predominantly in dry areas of the Northern Cape, Namaqualand, Free State and Northern Province. Some species are found in Madagascar and 1 species is found in Ethiopia.
