Anacampseros rufescens Overview

Anacampseros rufescens is a small perennial succulent in the Anacampserotaceae family. The genus name Anacampseros refers to an ancient name for herbs that restore lost love. They are planted for their attractive stubby succulent leaves and beautiful blooms. The plants form clumping and basal rosettes with colours that intensify with more light. The flowers only open in high-density light for short periods of time and often they will not open in greenhouses. In England, it was grown in the 1700s and it is now a popular houseplant. It has a clumping, mat-forming habit and is half-hardy, coping with temperatures as low as -5 degrees Celsius, plant in a position of full sun, in well-draining soil for optimal growth.
