Guzmania Overview
Guzmania is a genus of stemless evergreen perennial flowering plants in the Bromeliaceae family, native to the Southern US, Central America, the North and West regions of South America and the Caribbean. There are around 167 species in this genus, and they are characterised by their rosettes of tough, strap-shaped leaves and spikes of tubular flowers with showy bracts. Most cultivated forms are epiphytic and should be grown in bromeliad compost and misted using soft water. It is advised to mist daily, ideally in the early morning.
