Arundo Overview

Genus of around 5 species of sturdy, perennial, rhizomatous grass from Southern Europe, North Africa and most of Asia in temperate climates. They are tall grasses, growing to a maximum height of 10m, but more commonly between 3-6m. This genus has been extensively reclassified and many species once included are now recognised to be belonging to other genera. Some species are being investigated for use as renewable fuel, but many are also considered noxious invasive weeds and commercial planting is a contentious issue.

How to propagate Arundo

Seed

Seed in spring or autumn.

Division

By division in autumn; however forms should be propagated by division only.
