Cassine Overview

Genus containing around 64 small tree or shrub species native to Africa and Madagascar. They are adapted to forest, wood, scrub and fynbos environments. Typically they grow between 3-5m tall, producing oppositely arranged, lance-shaped, bright green leaves measuring 8-12cm long. Flowers are starry, 4-5 petalled, yellow-white and produced in clusters, leading onto drupe fruits.
