Sphagnum palustre Overview
This is a common and easily known species, which is very robust in habit. It has a has a pale green-white colour which is tinged with bright green or pale orange. The branches are blunt-tipped and swollen, and the crowded leaves have a hooded apices. The stems leaves are large and expand from a wide base to an even wider apex. It will tolerate a wide range of acidity, and has a low mineral requirement.
