Fritillaria Overview
Fritillaria is a genus of bulbous herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the Liliaceae family. They are native to temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere where most are found in full sun and open habitats. Fritillaria contains around 151 species characterised by their lance-shaped leaves and bell-shaped flowers. There are many cultivars and hybrids available including the popular Snake’s Head Fritillary, Fritillaria meleagris, the flowers of which have an unusual checkered pattern.
