Spartium Overview
Genus with a single species of deciduous shrub growing to between 1-5m tall. Commonly called Spanish broom or weaver’s broom. This characteristically lacks notable foliage and instead has green broom-like shoots and is grown for its scented, usually yellow, pea-like flowers. Originating from dry environments in the Mediterranean this species is frost tolerant and well-placed in a shrub border or grown against a warm, sunny wall.
