Pinellia Overview

A genus of Summer flowering tuberous perennials in the arum family native to East Asia. They are cultivated for their unusual inflorescences that consist of a hood-shaped bract surrounding a spadix, or fleshy stem, bearing small flowers and with a long tongue-like extension. They are reliably frost-hardy but have a period of dormancy in winter.
