Ixora Overview

A large genus containing around 540 species of evergreen shrubs and trees in the Rubiaceae family native to tropical and subtropical zones worldwide with a centre of diversity in Asia. They have glossy, leathery leaves and large clusters of tiny star-shaped or tubular flowers produced in the Summer. Some species are cultivated as garden shrubs, as glasshouse plants in cooler regions and occasionally as bonsai specimens.
