Malus is genus of containing around 62 species of small or medium-sized, deciduous trees in the Rosaceae family. These plants are native to the temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere. This genus includes the widely cultivated and domesticated orchard apples and crabapples. They typically have showy blossom in spring in shades of pink and white followed by edible or purely ornamental fruits. Some species and varieties have good autumn colour. There are many 1000s of cultivars available.
