Gonialoe Overview

Gonialoe is a small genus containing just 3 succulent perennial plants from the Asphodelaceae family. Gonialoe variegata is one of the best known, and most distinctive of the South African aloes. The characteristic white spots on the leaf surfaces are most attractive and resemble the spots on a partridge's breast, hence the common name.
