    Tipuana Overview

    Tipuana tipu is the only species in this monotypic genus. It is a South American deciduous tree in the legume family, also known as Pride of Bolivia, Tipu tree or Yellow Jacaranda amongst other common names. It is cultivated as a shade tree in parks and gardens but can become invasive.
