A genus of annual or perennial herbaceous flowering plants in the Linderniaceae family. Commonly grown garden varieties include the wishbone plant, Torenia fournieri, grown for its abundant blue-purple trumpet-shaped blooms and prolific flowering in semi-shaded areas. Torenia spp. originate in the neo tropics of Central and South America.
