A genus of around 15 species in the Rosaceae family native to Eastern and Central Asia. They are suckering, deciduous shrubs or subshrubs with deeply lobed leaves, an arching habit and abundant sprays of bell-shaped Spring flowers. In cultivation they prefer well-drained soil and can tolerate sun or partial shade. As they spread by suckering they can become invasive.
