The genus Barbarea, also known by the common names yellow rocket and winter cress, contains just under 30 small species of herbaceous biennial or perennials with deeply lobed foliage and yellow flowers featuring 4 petals. Some species are consumed as salad plants and others have been cultivated to produce plants with showy, double-flowers or variegated foliage for use as ornamental specimens.
