Albuca Overview

Genus of around 160 bulbous perennial species originating from grassland habitats in the Middle East and Africa. They bear tubular flowers which are sometimes scented, particularly at nighttime. Plants in this genus are known as slime lilies and some have distinctive curled foliage. Some species are evergreen and may be grown under glass in temperate climates if they are protected from frost. Others are cultivated as houseplants.
