Lychnis was a genus of around 14 accepted species of biennial or perennial herbaceous flowering plants in the Caryophyllaceae family. They have been reclassified and are now included in the genus Silene. Originating from Europe, Asia and North Africa. They have tubular-shaped flowers often with lobed petals. This genus used to include the common wildflower Ragged Robin and a number of species grown as garden ornamentals.
