Green Alkanet Overview

Pentaglottis is a monotypic genus in the Boraginaceae (borage, forget-me-not) family comprising one species, P. sempervirens, this is a herbaceous perennial plant native to Western Europe. Common names include green alkanet and evergreen bugloss and it is a common site in any damp, shady habitat, especially in urban areas. It was introduced from the Continent to the British Isles and has become naturalised and can be a tough weed to control, although it is well loved by bees!
