Pterocarya Overview

Genus of around 6 hardy, deciduous trees which produce nice foliage divided pinnately into 5-27 leaflets and attractive catkin flowers. Also known as wingnuts after their winged fruits, this genus is often used in park landscaping due to its fast growth. Some hybrid species have been produced which grow faster and these are used commercially for timber production.

How to propagate Pterocarya

Softwood cuttings in summer.

Suckers or seed, when ripe in autumn.

Other uses of Pterocarya
