Lagerstroemia indica Overview
It will produce large and profuse flowers in clusters which appear in the summer and early autumn; they are very long-lasting. It will grow to the size of a small tree, with a silvery-brown trunk and tiny deep green leaves. The new leaf growth has a reddish tint, and it will produce beautiful summer blooms with pink, red, lavender or white flowers. The tree is very attractive in the winter, with its peeling reddish brown bark. You will need to prune back hard if it is desired to keep as shrub-like form. Dwarf cultivars are available and will grow to a height of about 2m.
