Parlour Palm Overview
Chamaedorea elegans is commonly grown for its slender-stemmed foliage. This rhizomatous, evergreen palm originates from tropical and subtropical areas in the Americas. It has highly divided foliage, forming many leaflets which fan out attractively. This plant is commonly known by the name Parlour Palm, it is an extremely popular houseplant due to the lush green leafy appearance and its tolerance to low light levels. Tiny yellow flowers may appear from spring-autumn, followed by spherical black fruits. This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
