Hypoestes phyllostachya is an evergreen perennial in the Acanthaceae family. It can be found in South Africa, Madagascar and south-eastern Asia. Commonly kept as houseplants for their beautiful, colourful and patterned foliage. This species has attractive spotted, lance to oval-shaped leaves. Flowers are showy, coloured purple, these are produced in terminal spike arrangements.
