Polka Dot Plant Overview
Hypoestes phyllostachya is an evergreen perennial in the Acanthaceae family. It can be found in South Africa, Madagascar and south-eastern Asia. Commonly kept as houseplants for their beautiful, colourful and patterned foliage. This species produces attractively spotted, lance to oval-shaped leaves. It likes moderate to high humidity and doesn't tolerate drying out, water regularly or keep in a container such as a terrarium for optimal growth. Flowers are showy, coloured purple, these are produced in terminal spike arrangements.
