Red Horse Chestnut Overview

This wide-spreading tree can grow up to 20–30 m tall, and is often grown for its pink-red flowers. These are followed by fruit with small spines in late summer. It is often planted in parks and by roads for ornament, sometimes grafted on to the standard Horse Chestnut (A. hippocastanum).
