Red Leaf Cordyline Overview
Cordyline rubra is a large, evergreen, multi-stemmed perennial, native to Australia. Its long, leathery leaves range from pink to burgundy to red when young, turning green as they age. Red Leaf Cordylines are happy growing in most soils as long as they are well-drained, and they like full sun or partial shade.(Bright filtered light needed if grown indoors.) They dislike cold, wet conditions. Cordyline rubra has good architectural qualities and unusual colouring - as such, it is used as a specimen plant, both indoors and outdoors. An eyecatcher often seen in tropical gardens. In cooler climates, plant in containers that can be moved inside in winter.
