Genus of just 2 species of evergreen shrub and small tree, one from Tasmania and one from Australia. They come from moist forest environments and grow to a maximum height of 15m, requiring some shade for optimal growth. Attractive and easily cultivated, this genus is commonly grown in gardens for its attractive foliage and flowers. They are well suited to containers and can even be grown as houseplants. They have serrated leaves with blunt tips and bell-shaped flowers in racemes, coloured white or pink.
