Pleurothallis Overview

Native to the low-altitude tropical forests of North, Central, and South America, this large genus comprises approximately 900 species. They are extremely variable in form and habit, but most produce slender stems with a solitary, rounded, leathery leaf at the top of the stem. At the base of each leaf, one or many tiny flowers are produced in summer. These may be translucent, pale yellow, or green in colour, with scattered purple veins and brown streaks.
