Bergenia Elephant's Ears Overview
Bergenia is a small genus containing 10 species of clump-forming, rhizomatous, evergreen perennials native to Central Asia. Grown for their foliage and flowers, they make good ground cover plants and are often grown in containers. The leaves are large, teardrop-shaped and leathery in texture with toothed edges or waxy coatings. Green in colour most of the year, but displaying pretty autumn colour in cooler climates. Flowers are usually cone-shaped and in shades of red, pink, white and purple.
